Ukrainian attacks on Russian regions kill 652 — top investigator - TASS

More than 650 people, including 23 children, have been killed in Ukrainian attacks on Russia's borderline and rearmost regions, with nearly 3,000 injured, Russian Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin told TASS in an interview.

"As a result of <...> criminal actions by the Ukrainian side, 652 civilians were killed, of whom 23 were children. A total of 2,980 people, including 169 children, suffered injuries. Criminal investigations are underway on all the aforementioned facts," he said.

Bastrykin stated that the Investigative Committee has launched a total of 2,690 criminal cases on the shelling of Russia’s borderline and rearmost areas.

  1. American journalist Tucker Carlson has called for putting the blame on Vladimir Zelensky and the Ukrainian authorities for crimes committed with the tacit support of the West.

The journalist drew attention to the way Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (put on Russia’s list of terrorists and extremists), who was one of the most vocal supporters of the Kiev authorities, said that Zelensky should resign after his clash with US President Donald Trump. Carlson suggested that such a drastic change in the senator's attitude is linked to the fact that he "knows what's coming."

"Over the past three years, with the tacit support of its western patrons, the Ukrainian government has committed a remarkable number of serious crimes," he wrote on X. "God knows what the Ukrainians have done with the pathogens in American biolabs in their country. Even US intel agencies aren’t sure. The Ukrainians have also murdered a number of people in various countries in political assassinations, and tried to murder others, including American journalists and a European head of state. This is all true, and it’s all going to come out at some point. Better to start blaming it on Zelensky now."

  2. European politicians must be held responsible for the deaths of Russian civilians caused by the weapons they supply to the Ukrainian armed forces, Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin said in an interview with TASS.

"European politicians can talk all they want about facts that are far from reality. But we know that they make decisions about the supply of weapons to Ukraine and therefore these people must also be held accountable for the victims among the civilian population of our country," he said.

  3. Investigators have recognized over 27,000 people as victims of the Ukrainian militants’ invasion of the Kursk region, Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin said in an interview with TASS.

"Over 39,000 people have been questioned in criminal cases on the events in the Kursk region, and over 27,000 have been recognized as victims," he said.

He also said that data on the destruction of over 20 cultural heritage sites have been recorded.

"It was established that municipal facilities, large agricultural enterprises, other organizations and individual entrepreneurs suffered damages in the amount of over 26 bln rubles," Bastrykin said.
