The deliveries of French-made Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Kiev marks yet another step by Paris to escalate the Ukraine conflict, the Russian embassy in France told TASS on Thursday.
"The deliveries of Mirage 2000 fighters by the French side to the Kiev regime is yet another unfriendly step towards Russia aimed at escalation in Ukraine. Naturally, such actions cannot but evoke legitimate condemnation," the Russian diplomatic mission said.
The Russian embassy in France thus commented on a statement by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu that France had delivered the first Mirage 2000 jets to Ukraine. The defense minister specified that the Mirage 2000 jets would be operated by Ukrainian pilots trained in France.
Lecornu did not specify the number of the fighter jets delivered to the Kiev regime. However, the French newspaper La Tribune reported earlier that France could deliver no more than six fighters to Ukraine.
