Another Winter Storm to Bring Heavy Snow across US

A new winter storm is set to sweep across the northern US this weekend, bringing heavy snowfall from the Pacific Northwest to the Northeast and more ice accumulation in the mid-Atlantic, forecasters warn.

The latest system follows a storm that brought snow, sleet, and freezing rain to large portions of the Midwest, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast earlier this week.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the storm will produce moderate to heavy snow across the northern Rockies, northern Plains, and upper Mississippi Valley on Friday. Snowfall will then spread into the Great Lakes region on Saturday before reaching the Northeast over the weekend.

Freezing rain is also expected to develop Saturday morning in parts of the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic, the same areas that experienced dangerous ice and sleet earlier this week.

Forecasters predict more than eight inches of snow could accumulate in parts of the upper Midwest, northern Pennsylvania, and New York State. Snowfall is expected to begin in the New York tristate area early Saturday afternoon and continue through Sunday.
