Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hopes Europe and the United States will be involved in any talks about ending his country’s war with Russia, he told reporters on Saturday.
At a joint press conference with President Maia Sandu of neighbouring Moldova, Zelensky said Ukraine also needed to be involved in any discussions on ending the war for such negotiations to have any meaningful impact.
Ukraine is ready to transit gas from Azerbaijan to Europe, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday.
Zelenskyy told reporters in Kyiv he had discussed the arrangement with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev when the pair met in recent days.
Azerbaijan "has a large export capacity. The export capacity is 25 billion cubic meters," Zelenskyy said. "We can use our infrastructure if countries in Europe need gas. But not Russian gas," he said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday said allies should work towards determining a format for potential peace talks with Russia, reiterating that only talks involving Kyiv could bring about a sustainable peace.
ReplyDeletePresident Vladimir Putin earlier this week said he was ready for talks with US counterpart Donald Trump on Ukraine, praising him as a "smart" leader who might have prevented the conflict from starting in February 2022.
ReplyDeletePutin did not say when talks could take place, and the Kremlin said earlier it was still waiting for "signals" from Washington, despite Trump announcing Thursday he was willing to meet Putin "immediately".
