A top European Union military official says it "makes perfect sense" to consider stationing EU soldiers in Greenland.
The world's largest island has been in the international spotlight in recent weeks after President Donald Trump repeatedly said he wants the US to acquire Greenland.
He has not ruled out out military force and economic coercion to gain control.
"In my view, it would make perfect sense not only to station U.S. forces in Greenland, as is currently the case, but also to consider stationing EU soldiers there," Robert Brieger, chairman of the European Union Military Committee, the bloc's highest military body, told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
