Attacks hit Yemen’s Hezyaz and Ras Kanatib power stations as well as military infrastructure in the ports of Hodeidah, Salif and Ras Kanatib, Israel’s military added.
The IDF confirmed later in the day Thursday that it had targeted the Sanaa airport.
"IAF fighter jets conducted intelligence-based strikes on military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime on the west coast and inland Yemen...The targets that were struck by the IDF include military infrastructure used by the Houthi[s]...for its military activities in both Sanaa International Airport and the Hezyaz and Ras Kanatib power stations. In addition, the IDF struck military infrastructure in the Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Kanatib ports on the western coast," the Israeli military said in a statement.
Houthi-aligned media said the attacks targeted civilian infrastructure, and were coordinated and supported by the US and Britain. The attacks disrupted the operation of Sanaa’s international airport, destroying the control tower and several facilities, including civilian aircraft, reports indicate. Houthi media confirmed that power generation infrastructure was targeted.
Israeli officials said some 100 aircraft took part in the strikes, said to be Israel's largest attack on Yemen to date.

Israeli aircraft carried out massive strikes on the Yemeni capital Sanaa and the port city of Hodeidah, which are controlled by Houthi rebels, a source in the group told TASS.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the source, the attack targeted Sanaa International Airport, with at least seven strikes. Israel also targeted oil tanks and energy-industry sites in Hodeidah with three strikes.
"Israeli jets delivered seven strikes on the Sanaa airport and the nearby al-Dailami air base. Another three strikes hit Hodeidah's port infrastructure, including oil tanks and energy facilities," the source said.
According to the person, the target of one of the strikes was the large Ras Kanatib power plant in Hodeidah. Also, the air control tower of the Sanaa airport was damaged in one of the strikes. The source did not say whether there were any casualties.
The Yemeni Red Sea ports of Hodeida and Ras Isa have been completely knocked out by Israeli air strikes, a Houthi source told TASS.

ReplyDeleteHouthi television network Al Masirah reported that three people were killed, with 11 more receiving injuries in the strikes. Government sources later told Sputnik that casualties had risen to four dead, with 16 people injured.
