Estonia has begun naval patrols to protect a cable supplying electricity from Finland following suspected sabotage of another one on Christmas Day, Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said Friday.
“We’ve decided to send our navy close to Estlink 1 to defend and secure our energy connection with Finland,” he posted on X.
Following the incidents with underwater cables between Finland and Estonia, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said that he plans to discuss the issue with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and to ask him to deploy a "deterrence fleet."
