The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported that F-16 fighter jets were scrambled on Monday night due to the detection of a group of drones near the country's airspace.
According to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, the drones were detected over the Black Sea and were heading towards Ukrainian airspace, flying close to the Romanian border.
“Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86th Borcea Air Base to monitor the situation in the airspace,” the statement said.
The Romanian radar system confirmed that the country's airspace was not violated. In Tulcea County, where the air raid alert sounded, a check began for possible drone debris. Allied structures were informed about the incident.
A similar incident was reported on October 19.
