IDF says Iran has launched missiles towards Israel

Sirens have sounded all across Israel, missiles were launched from Iran towards Israel, the Israeli military says in a statement.

Two interceptions have been heard in Jerusalem.

It comes a short while after the Israeli military said Iran had launched missiles towards Israel.

Iran's state-run news agency IRNA has now confirmed that Tehran's military has started launching ballistic missiles towards Israel.

Iranian state TV has carried a statement from the IRGC (lslamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) confirming "dozens" of missiles have been launched towards Israel, and threatening another attack if Israel responds.

The Israeli home front command has sent text messages containing "life-saving instructions" to people in certain areas of Israel, directing them to enter protected spaces.

Iran's attack on Israel is a "legal, rational, and legitimate response to the terrorist acts," Iran's mission to the United Nations in New York posted on X on Tuesday.

Air traffic was halted at Israel's Ben Gurion airport on Tuesday, a spokesman said, as blasts rocked the country after Iran launched a missile attack.
