Estonia has delivered short-range Mistral air defense systems and accompanying missiles to Ukraine, according to a statement from the Estonian Ministry of Defense on X (formerly Twitter).
“Confirmed! Mistral short-range air defence systems and missiles provided by Estonia have been delivered to Ukraine. Let’s keep supporting Ukrainian freedom fighters. Together, we can,” the statement read.
The Mistral system, developed in France, is a modern air defense weapon designed to target helicopters and aircraft. It is available in a portable configuration (MANPADS) and can also be deployed on vehicle, ship, and helicopter launch platforms. The system has a range of up to six kilometers and is intended to defend against low-flying aircraft and helicopters.
