Hungary will not support Ursula von der Leyen's candidacy for the post of head of the European Commission because she is using European rules to put political pressure on Budapest, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.
“We cannot support the candidacy of Madame Candidate for the post of the European Commission, since she has used and is using the rule of law, which is an important European value, on a political basis against Hungary... Such a chairman, in our opinion, cannot remain at the head of the European Commission, we do not We can support this,” Orban told reporters before the start of the EU summit.
The EU summit opens in Brussels on Thursday, where Ursula von der Leyen will be nominated for the post of head of the EC.
