"The Americans are quite pragmatic guys. And naturally their own prosperity matters the most to them," Peskov said, commenting on a remark by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that 90% of the security assistance the United States has provided has actually been spent there in the United States. "Ukraine should understand that it is not the main concern for the United States, for the United States has always cared more about the Americans themselves, even at the expense of a very large number of these same Ukrainians," he emphasized.
"It is the Americans who make billions of dollars off expensive energy, off the gas that they sell to Europe and off oil. And it is the Americans who secure themselves jobs and higher tax revenues as they provide work for their producers of munitions, military equipment and so on," the Russian presidential spokesman added.
Also, Peskov described Blinken’s acknowledgement as quite eloquent and lamented that the United States "is ready to sacrifice more Ukrainians," hoping at the same time that Kiev would open its eyes to this.
Speaking at a joint press conference with British Foreign Secretary David Cameron on Thursday, Blinken said the investments that the US has made in Ukraine’s defense had produced "more growth in our own economy. So this has also been a win-win that we need to continue."
