Israel will commit a war crime flooding underground tunnels in Gaza - Russia UN

Israel's flooding of underground tunnels in the Gaza Strip would be a war crime, Dmitry Polyansky, the first ambassador of the Russian Federation to the UN, said at the meeting of the UN Security Council.
"War crimes are on the rise – in recent days, shocking information has spread about Israel's plans to flood underground facilities in the Gaza Strip with seawater," Polyansky said.

 According to publicly available information, the IDF has already built a system of pipes and pumps designed to pump sea water, and is currently discussing with the United States the practical possibility of such flooding: will there be enough water, will the “topography” of the tunnels allow it, and so on.

 “Such a step, if taken, would constitute an obvious war crime,” he stressed.
