Hamas is “ready” for an Israeli invasion of Gaza over the October 7 attacks, a top official of the Palestinian group said late Friday after Israel announced it would extend its ground operation.
“If (Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu decides to enter Gaza tonight, the resistance is ready,” said Ezzat al-Rishaq, a senior member of the Hamas political bureau, on social media platform Telegram.
“The remains of his soldiers will be swallowed up by the land of Gaza.”

- Israeli tanks are moving toward the Gaza Strip in an area near the city of Beit Hanoun located in the north of the Palestinian enclave, the Sky News Arabia television channel said on Friday, citing local sources.
According to the television channel, the sounds of shooting and explosions are heard on the enclave’s northern border. The Al Arabiya television channel reports massive shelling of the city of Beit Lahia. The Israeli military is reportedly firing target-indicting flares over Gaza’s northern areas.
Jawwal, a Palestinian telecom provider, said earlier in the day that it had stopped providing mobile phone and internet services in the Gaza Strip following Israel’s massive attacks.
