Canada: Two killed, nine hurt when truck ploughs into pedestrians

Two men have been killed when a pick-up truck ploughed into pedestrians in a small town in Canada’s eastern province of Quebec in what police say was a “deliberate” act.

The truck hit several people on Monday outside a microbrewery in Amqui, then continued for another 400 to 500 metres (450 to 550 yards) along the road, swerving and striking more people, witnesses told local media.

Quebec provincial police said nine people were injured, including three in serious condition. A baby was among those hurt, police said.
