Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned home Friday evening after making a surprise visit to Pakistan following his visit to Russia and Afghanistan.
"Breakfast in Kabul, tea in Lahore & dinner in Delhi! PM @narendramodi returns after a unique day in Indian diplomacy," India's external affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted.
Modi made a sudden stopover in Lahore, Pakistan, where he met his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
Modi left for Russia on Wednesday on a two-day visit before making a one-day visit to Afghanistan.
Local analysts described Modi's year-end diplomatic move in Pakistan as a master's stroke aimed at seeking breakthrough in bilateral ties stuck in a lingering impasse over terrorism and disputes on Kashmir.
