The official from the Hague-based Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said it had not yet been determined who used the poison. But for several months, the group has suspected Islamic State of possessing chemical weapons.
The medical charity Doctors Without Borders reported treating four people whose house apparently had been hit by a chemical weapons explosion in August in northern Iraq.
Mustard gas was first used in World War I and has since been outlawed.
It is a particularly vicious poison that burns the eyes, skin, lungs and other organs.

Du gaz moutarde a été utilisé cet été lors de combats en Syrie, a confirmé pour la première fois l'Organisation pour l'interdiction des armes chimiques (OIAC), qui, conformément à son statut, n'a désigné aucun responsable. Les experts en armes chimiques ont conclu que ce gaz asphyxiant avait été utilisé le 21 août à Marea, une ville de la province d'Alep (nord du pays). Un rapport encore confidentiel a été envoyé aux Etats membres de l'OIAC, qui doivent se réunir fin novembre.
Des militants syriens et des ONG médicales avaient déjà affirmé fin août qu'une attaque à l'arme chimique avait touché des dizaines de personnes à Marea, où des combats opposaient des rebelles à des jihadistes du groupe Etat islamique (EI).......lesechos.fr

ReplyDeleteEine Gasattacke sei bei einem Angriff auf die Stadt Marea im Norden Syriens vorgenommen worden, berichtete BBC am Freitag unter Berufung auf die OPCW.
Dem Sender zufolge hatten sich die IS-Extremisten und eine Gruppierung syrischer Oppositioneller im Raum von Marea heftige Gefechte geliefert. Augenzeugen teilten mit, dass mit Yperit bespickte Geschosse aus einem vom IS kontrollierten benachbarten Dorf abgefeuert wurden.
Der in Russland als Terrororganisation geächtete Islamische Staat steht bereits nicht zum ersten Mal im Verdacht, Senfgas hergestellt und angewandt zu haben.
