The US refusal to accept a Russian delegation led by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev shows the country’s unwillingness to hold a dialogue on topical issues, Russian senator Vladimir Dzhabarov said on Wednesday.
"The decision taken by the US means they are not willing to have a dialogue on controversial and topical questions," said Dzhabarov, a deputy head of the Federation Council’s committee for international affairs
"So let them decide how they will explain to the entire world why they do not want to hold negotiations," he added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday that Moscow could send a large delegation headed by the prime minister to Washington "to discuss the Syrian conflict resolution."
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier on Wednesday that the US side refused to receive the Russian delegation.
