"Some died on the spot from gunshot wounds. The death toll can be expected to rise, " the police said in a statement.
Local media reported that at least two people were killed, eight injured.
Aside from knowing that an automatic weapon had been used in the shooting, the police said they do not have any suspects yet with investigation still underway.
The restaurant involved was in a gang-troubled neighborhood in Goteborg, the country's second largest city.

ReplyDelete"There was a shooting in a pub. There have been several fatalities and a number of the injured have been brought to hospital," police spokeswoman Ulla Brehm told AFP. "An automatic weapon was used... we can't rule out that it's gang-related. We've had problems for some time with gang crime in this area," she added.
An eyewitness told tabloid Aftonbladet that two people entered the pub in the Gothenburg suburb of Biskopsgaarden with weapons that looked like Kalashnikovs and started shooting.
"We were sitting watching the football game when the shooters came in," the witness said.Police have sealed off the area and have launched a murder investigation.
