Yanukovych is wanted in Ukraine for wasteful financial management and abuse of office.
According to the Interpol website, Yanukovych is charged with “Misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation, if committed in respect of an especially gross amount, or by an organized group.”
After Viktor Yanukovych was ousted from power in February 2014, the Ukrainian government scheduled an early presidential election. In May, the Ukrainian parliament issued a warrant for his arrest, accusing him of corruption and cronyism.
Following the February coup, Yanukovych fled Ukraine. Last March, the ex-Ukrainian leader held a press conference in Southern Russia. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Interpol is a non-governmental organization with 190 member countries, with a mandate to facilitate cooperation between international police forces.

Chaika said his agency “maintains necessary contacts with the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, notably we send requests concerning legal assistance of Russian investigative authorities and consider similar requests from Ukraine”.

ReplyDeleteInterpol a diffusé un avis de recherche international à l'encontre de l'ancien président ukrainien Viktor Ianoukovitch, selon une "notice rouge" consultable lundi sur le site internet de l'organisation de coopération policière basée à Lyon.
Viktor Ianoukovitch est recherché pour des malversations financières, selon la fiche émise par Interpol. L'Ukraine avait demandé en mars dernier à l'organisation policière de diffuser une "notice rouge" à son encontre pour "abus de pouvoir et meurtre", à des fins d'extradition.
"Aujourd'hui, plusieurs mois après notre demande formulée en mars 2014, à la suite de nos arguments et explications, Interpol a pris une décision, sur demande du ministère de l’Intérieur, du parquet et des services de sécurité ukrainiens", a commenté le ministre ukrainien de l'Intérieur, Arsen Avakov, sur sa page Facebook.
