The
2,560-dwt Blue Sky M (built 1976) never issued a distress call,
according to coastguard officials who contradicted earlier news that the
ship had sent an SOS as it was sailing two miles off the island of
Othonoi, near Corfu, on the Adriatic Sea.
“What happened is that people on board called emergency services to request water, food and blankets,” the coastguard official said.
A Greek navy frigate rushing to the area contacted the captain who denied the ship was in danger. “The ship continues and is on course to Italy,” the coastguard official said on condition of anonymity.
Greek state television said the ship had issued a distress signal because of armed people onboard. A defence ministry source had said that more than 600 illegal immigrants were reported to be on board. But coastguard officials estimated the actual number should be about 400.
The Blue Sky M is controlled by Romania's Info Market and carries the Moldovan flag.

ReplyDeleteΕκτός ελληνικού FIR (εκτός δηλαδή του χώρου που συμπίπτει με την ελληνική περιοχή ευθύνης για διεξαγωγή επιχειρήσεων έρευνας και διάσωσης) πλέει αυτή την ώρα, με δικά του μέσα, το εμπορικό πλοίο με τη σημαία Μολδαβίας που είχε εκπέμψει σήμα κινδύνου το μεσημέρι, όταν βρισκόταν κοντά στο νησί Οθωνοί.
Τα τρία σκάφη του λιμενικού από την Κέρκυρα, καθώς και το ρυμουλκό που έσπευδαν στην περιοχή πήραν εντολή να επιστρέψουν. Στην περιοχή πλέει και η φρεγάτα Ναβαρίνο, η οποία, σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες, παρακολουθεί διακριτικά τις κινήσεις του εμπορικού πλοίου. Να σημειωθεί ότι ο πρόεδρος της κοινότητας των Οθωνών, μιλώντας στο ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ το μεσημέρι, ανέφερε, ότι το πλοίο φαινόταν από το νησί, μάλιστα έκανε ελιγμούς και έπλεε νοτιοδυτικά, για να αποφεύγει τους ισχυρούς ανέμους των 8 μποφόρ.

ReplyDeleteItalian authorities sent two helicopters Tuesday to meet a cargo ship believed to be carrying hundreds of migrants after a passenger sent a distress call earlier when the ship was off Greece.
The operation came two days after a Greek-operated ferry caught fire between Greece and Italy with the loss of at least 11 lives, prompting a two-day search and rescue effort.
Italian air force spokesman Capt. Stefano Testa said the Mouldovan-flagged Blue Sky M freighter was about 30 kilometres off Santa Maria di Leuca, on the southernmost tip of the "heel" of boot-shaped Italy.
Port officials in Bari said the teams were landing on the ship as a precaution to see if there were any problems on board and ensure the situation was under control.

ReplyDeleteAn Italian helicopter was flying to intercept a cargo ship believed to be carrying hundreds of migrants after it left Greek waters and headed towards Italy, according to a statement from the air force.
The Moldovan-flagged ship, Blue Sky M, was spotted close to the coast of Corfu earlier in the day after authorities got an alarm call about a potential incident on board.

Centinaia di immigrati diretti in Croazia: la nave dirottata verso l'Italia...
ReplyDeleteNon è la prima volta che succede: qualche giorno fa centinaia di clandestini arrivati in Grecia si sono rifiutati di sbarcare e si sono fatti portare in Italia.
Alla fine i clandestini vengono spediti tutti in Italia. La Terra dei sogni dove le leggi scritte non sono rispettate e le carceri hanno porte girevoli e i giudici sono sempre porti a perdonare con un buffetto.
L'Eldorado d'Europa dove, nonostante la crisi economica i soldi per mantenere gli extracomunitari saltano sempre fuori. Così accade che una nave, la Blue Sky M battente barriera moldava, stracarica di immigrati siriani e diretta in Croazia, all'altezza di Corfù lanci un imprecisato allerme e, all'improvviso, cambi rotta e decida di puntare a tutta birra verso l'Italia. Non è la prima volta che succede. Siamo stati costretti ad assistere alla stessa scena una decina di giorni fa: gli stranieri arrivati a Pilos, al largo delle coste sud-occidentali del Peloponneso, si sono rifiutati di attraccare e si sono fatti portare in Sicilia.

Nave cargo con 600 migranti dopo l'Sos si dirige verso l'Italia ...
ReplyDeleteLa nave Blue Sky M con centinaia di migranti a bordo che ha lanciato l'sos a largo di Corfù ha cambiato rotta, puntando la prua verso le coste pugliesi ma non è in difficoltà. L'allarme è rientrato.
Il cargo con a bordo centinaia di migranti siriani sta ora facendo rotta verso Gallipoli, dove l'arrivo in porto è previsto intorno all'una di questa notte. Cargo ship carrying '700 migrants' docks in Italy ...
ReplyDeleteA cargo ship said to be carrying 700 clandestine migrants which was taken under Italian control at sea has docked in the Italian port of Gallipoli.
The Blue Sky M had apparently been abandoned by its crew and at one point seemed to be heading directly towards the Italian coast on autopilot.
Reports suggest Syrians and Kurds are among those aboard the ship.
Photos posted by the local Italian Red Cross show the ship in port with people crowding a deck.
