OTTAWA -- Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird says Canada will impose economic sanctions and a travel ban on another 14 individuals involved in militant actions against Ukraine.
The new additions include Valery Vladimirovich Kaurov, the self-described president of the Republic of Novorossiya, who has called on the Putin regime to deploy troops to Ukraine.
Baird is urging Russia to stop the flow of arms and militants into Ukraine.
He says Moscow should abandon what he calls its inflammatory propaganda campaign against Ukraine.
Russia should also draw down the troops deployed close to Ukraine's borders.
"Moscow must understand in no uncertain terms that its continued failure to back up its words with deeds will result in further costs for the Russian Federation."
Since March, Canada has imposed travel bans and economic sanctions against dozens of Russian and Ukrainian individuals and entities.
