A group of human rights organizations active in the West Bank sent a
letter to Israeli security chiefs on Sunday, urging them to refrain from
"collectively punishing the civilian Palestinian population in the West
Bank and Gaza Strip as part of Operation Brother’s Keeper."
The group, including Amnesty International, B’Tselem, Rabbis for Human Rights and several others, expressed concern that "many of the military’s actions in the Occupied Territories do not directly serve the aim of locating and returning the three abducted Israelis and are severely and unnecessarily violating basic human rights."

The number of Palestinians detained during the ongoing Israeli crackdown on the West Bank rose to 529, a Palestinian NGO said....
ReplyDeleteThe increase came after Israeli forces detained 61 more Palestinians on Monday as part of the Israeli search operation for three Jewish settlers who went missing in the occupied West Bank earlier this month, a statement by the Palestinian Prisoners' Society said.
The trio went missing from a southern West Bank settlement on June 12 amid accusations by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Palestinian resistance movement Hamas was responsible.
Israel has since launched a massive search operation in the West Bank for the young settlers, detaining hundreds of Palestinians – including Hamas leaders, members of parliament and former ministers – in the process.
No Palestinian group has yet claimed responsibility for the alleged kidnapping.
