“What we are witnessing now is the easily predictable aftermath of the US and EU’s irresponsible decision to back the overthrow of a legally-elected Ukrainian president at the time when Russia was busy with the Sochi Olympic Games,” Emerique Chopard said in an interview with Interfax.
“I have been warning about a possible escalation since the very beginning of the Ukrainian unrest, which was provoked by outside actors,” he added.
The French analyst explained that Moscow would have never allowed the self-declared Ukrainian regime to intimidate the Russian-speaking population in Crimea and the east.
“Cabinet pyromaniacs [in Western countries], who wanted to play with fire without giving a second thought to the consequences of their decision to pit one part of Ukraine against the other, are of course upset over the arrival of Russian ‘firefighters,’” Chopard said.
“But it’s these pyromaniacs that will have to bear the brunt of colossal historic responsibility for leaving Ukraine a weaker state.”
Emerique Chopard has called on international community to look for a way out of this crisis without the help from United States.
“All interested parties – Ukrainians, EU member states and Russia – should now think together of a peaceful solution to the crisis that would both conform to peoples’ wishes and helped preserve their identity,” the expert emphasized.

Russie: 675.000 Ukrainiens accueillis depuis ces deux derniers mois (FMS)...
ReplyDeletePrès de 675.000 citoyens ukrainiens sont entrés sur le territoire de la Russie depuis le début de l'année, dont 143.000 ont demandé l'asile, a déclaré dimanche à Moscou Valentina Kazakova, responsable du Service fédéral des migrations de Russie (FMS).
Selon elle, ce sont les régions voisines de l'Ukraine qui sont les plus touchés par l'immigration ukrainienne. Il s'agit avant tout de la région de Rostov-sur-le-Don et celle de Koursk qui ont vu, en février dernier, le nombre d'immigrés ukrainiens augmenter de 53% et 71% respectivement.
Par ailleurs, on observe une nette augmentation de demandes d'asile temporaire. Rien que pour la région de Rostov-sur-le-Don, le nombre de demandes d'asile temporaire a augmenté de 96% en février par rapport au mois de janvier.
Le FMS reçoit également beaucoup de demandes de ressortissants ukrainiens résidant en Russie. "Préoccupés par le sort de leurs proches, les gens demandent de leur accorder un asile et de simplifier la procédure d'octroi de la nationalité russe. Nous enregistrons également beaucoup de demandes d'employés d'organes judiciaires et autres organes publics ukrainiens. Ils demandent de leur accorder un asile pour éviter des persécutions de la part de radicaux. Les organes territoriaux du Service fédéral des migrations ont l'intention d'examiner toutes ces demandes dans les plus brefs délais", a indiqué Mme Kazakova.
