“Wiretapping our prime minister, ministers and top officials is an open declaration of war against the Turkish Republic,” Davutoğlu told reporters March 27. “Taking the necessary precautions is the state’s duty.”
His remarks came hours after an illegal recording of a secret security meeting held at the Foreign Ministry was published on YouTube.
“After the meeting, military precautions were taken to protect the Süleyman Shah Tomb in Syria. Those who leaked the recording want to show the Turkish Republic in weakness and stop the precautions taken to protect the Süleyman Shah Tomb,” Davutoğlu said.
“We would like to express to our nation and all our citizens that the reputation of this state is the reputation of us all and its security is the security of us all. Any exercise that resembles espionage activity is an attack on the security of our state. The attackers will be heavily penalized,” he added. [hurriyetdailynews.com]

Estas fueron supuestamente las palabras que pronunció Hakan Fidan, jefe de la Inteligencia turca y mano derecha de Tayyip Erdogan, durante una reunión de alto nivel el trece de marzo pasado.
Dos grabaciones de ese encuentro de secreto, en el que participaron Fidan, el ministro de Exteriores Ahmet Davutoglu, uno de sus altos cargos y el segundo jefe del Estado Mayor, han sido publicadas en la página web del periódico Cumhuriyet a media tarde del jueves.

"We're seeing reports that some users are not able to access YouTube in Turkey. There is no technical issue on our side and we're looking into the situation," a Google Inc spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

ReplyDeleteTurkey could block access to other social media platforms as well as YouTube and Twitter if users publish recordings or documents which threaten national security, government sources said on Thursday.
Turkish telecoms regulators moved to block YouTube on Thursday after an anonymous account posted what it presented as a leaked recording of a discussion between the country's intelligence chief, deputy head of the armed forces and foreign minister about possible military operations in Syria.

ReplyDeleteThe Turkish government was seriously rocked after an illegal recording of a key high-level security meeting on Syria was leaked through YouTube on March 27, and vowed to impose the “heaviest penalty” on the perpetrators of such “treachery.”
“These gangs of treachery are the enemies of our state and people. The perpetrators of this attack targeting the security of our state and people will be found out in the shortest time and will be handed over to justice to be given the heaviest penalty. This treacherous attack targeting the Republic of Turkey will be disrupted,” the Foreign Ministry said in a written statement late March 27.

Turkey's FM: Security leak linked with Syrian regime, al-Qaeda...
ReplyDeleteTurkey's foreign minister has said those who eavesdropped on a high-level security meeting of Turkish officials on Syria are "clearly linked with the Syrian regime and Al-Qaeda."
"Those behind this attack are cooperating with the enemies of Turkey," Ahmet Davutoglu said in a televised interview on a private channel on Thursday.
A video that appeared on Youtube earlier in the day showed that the meeting between Foreign Minister Davutoglu, intelligence chief Hakan Fidan and the armed forces’ second commander Yasar Guler was spied on while they were discussing possible threats to the Turkish territory in Aleppo, Syria.
Davutoglu said the leak was an attack on Turkey's national security and an investigation was underway.
He said the perpetrators of the snooping were “attempting to create the perception of a ‘weak’ Turkey, especially ahead of 30 March local elections."
The tomb of Suleyman Shah in Aleppo is currently under threat due to the rise in fighting between the Syrian opposition and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, in the area.
