An E-3A AWACS plane of NATO on Tuesday started to fly over Romania, as
part of a scheduled exercise conducted periodically to train air police
troops and hardware, according to Romania's Defense Ministry.
However, a NATO spokesman was quoted by media as saying that NATO's reconnaissance flights over Romania and Poland are meant to monitor the situation in Ukraine.
The AWACS aircraft is one of the most sophisticated command and control vehicles in the NATO armory, capable of monitoring huge swathes of airspace.
As part of the NATO's early warning forces, the AWACS' primary functions are airborne surveillance, command, control and communications during the operations conducted in the NATO air space.

Ukraine army placed in maximum operational readiness...
ReplyDeleteThe Ukrainian army had been placed in maximum operational readiness, parliament-appointed First Deputy Prime Minister Vitaliy Yarema said at a government session on Wednesday.
“Despite a difficult situation, the armed forces have been placed in maximum operational readiness, and all-Ukraine military exercises have started,” he said.
Yarema also said the government was looking into the setting up of Ukraine’s National Guard on the basis of interior troops. “I am confident that, at this difficult time, the army will accomplish its high duty to Ukraine despite consistent sabotage towards undermining national security and defenses of Ukraine over the past four years,” he said.
Prosecution agencies are to shortly “launch an investigation and bring to justice everyone involved in embezzlement of military property in Defense Ministry agencies,” Yarema said.

Belarus offers Russia to deploy extra 15 planes due to NATO activity near border...
ReplyDeleteRussia will be offered to deploy up to 15 more warplanes in Belarus, in connection with NATO activity near the Belarusian border, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated here on Wednesday.
"If they redeploy about fifteen airplanes from Italy (to the Baltic states), I think we should contact the chief of the Russian General Staff and offer them the reinforcements they are obligated to provide us with (as part of the Russian-Belarusian alliance). Say, to move no more than 12-15 planes to Belarus now and to determine their patrolling and back-up itineraries. Let them work and patrol," Lukashenko told the Belarusian Security Council in Minsk on Wednesday.

Belarus concerned about situation in Ukraine...
DeleteBelarus expresses concern about the situation in Ukraine, President Alexander Lukashenko said on Wednesday.
“Of course, we are concerned about the situation in Ukraine, as this is our country, these are our people and these are our brothers. I should say the Ukrainian people deserve better than what has happened in Ukraine,” the Belarusian president said.
“The heroic Ukrainian people struggle against Nazism. We struggled together and we won in the Great Patriotic War,” he said.
Trade turnover between Belarus and Ukraine reached about $7 billion. “This proves the closest economic relations between Belarus and Ukraine,” Lukashenko said.
He said Belarus’ position on the events in Ukraine would remain unchanged. “Our position is consolidated and united. The Belarusian foreign minister has been instructed to inform the world community and leaders of other countries about Belarus’ position,” Lukashenko said.

G7 warns Russia on 'annexing' Crimea....
ReplyDeleteLeaders of the G7 group of nations have called on Russia to stop all efforts to "annex" Ukraine's Crimea region.
They said if Russia took such a step they would "take further action, individually and collectively".
The G7 leaders also said they would not recognise the results of a referendum in Crimea this weekend on whether to split from Ukraine and join Russia.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's national security chief has warned of a major Russian military build-up on Ukraine's borders.
Andriy Parubiy said Moscow had not withdrawn its troops after carrying out military exercises near Ukraine's eastern and southern frontiers last month.
"The Russian army is only two to three hours' march from Kiev," he said, adding that Ukraine's "units are positioned to repel attack from any direction.".........http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26547138
